Afghanistan 1878-80, no clasp (8.Bde./1471. Pte. E. Sanders. 51st. Regt.) suspension re-affixed with small plug to edge at 6 o’clock, light scratching to obverse field, polished, therefore good fine £60-£80
Edwin Saunders was born in London in 1860 and attested there for General Service on 6 September 1878. Posted to the 51st Light Infantry on 20 September 1879, he served with the Regiment in India from 21 September 1879 to 18 December 1884, including 7 months with the Army during the Second Afghan War. He transferred to the Army Reserve on Christmas Day 1884, and was discharged on 5 September 1890, after 12 years’ service.
