N. O. Faraianu served as a Sergeant with the Romanian 100-bed Military Campaign Hospital, based at Al Fabayl, Saudi Arabia, from 9 February 1991. The hospital, with a staff of 363, provided medical assistance to British troops engaged in Operation Granby, as part of the Multinational Peace Force in the Persian Gulf, and also provided medical support to prisoners of war and civilians.
