Patrick Dearie was born at Barony, Glasgow, and attested for the Seaforth Highlanders on 12 November 1890. He served with the 1st Battalion in the occupation of Crete in 1897, and in the Nile campaign of 1898, including the battle of the Atbara (Queen’s medal and Khedive’s medals with Atbara clasp). He was posted to the 2nd Battalion on 9 October 1899, and served in South Africa from 21 October 1899 to 2 September 1902 (Queen’s medal with 5 clasps, King’s medal with 2 clasps). He was discharged at Fort George on 11 November 1902. Recalled to the Colours in August 1914 at the age of 40, he served in France from 10 May 1915, where he was wounded by gas poisoning on 27 September 1915. He was demobilised in March 1920. Also entitled to 1914-15 Star trio. Sold with copied discharge papers and medal roll extracts.
