Walter Clarence Savage attested for the Royal Canadian Engineers on 12 September 1951 and served during the Korean War as a Sapper with the 59th Independent Field Squadron from 23 March 1953: this unit was part of the 25th Canadian Infantry and was responsible for mapping and destroying of unexploded ordnance, mapping of minefields and the securing of human remains. He was discharged on 31 August 1955.
