Royal National Lifeboat Institution, V.R., silver (Mr John Bunt. Voted 9th February 1894) with uniface ‘double dolphin’ suspension, slight edge bruise, otherwise good very fine £600-£700

‘Voted on 8 February 1894 the Silver Medal of the Institution, a copy of the vote inscribed on vellum, and £2 to Mr John Bunt and Mr John Flory, for putting off three times in a boat, and gallantly saving the crew of four men, one of whom had become deranged, from the rigging of the brig Harriet, of Jersey, which was stranded and filled off Portishead, in a strong gale and a very heavy sea on the 18th November 1893’ (Ref. R.N.L.I. Records).
John Bunt was a Boatman with the Missions to Seamen at Portishead, Somerset; John Flory was a Scripture Reader with the Missions to Seamen.
