William Robert Crudge was born in Exeter, Devon, and was the son of Mr and Mrs R. J. Crudge of 17 Elmside, Exeter. He served during the Great War with the 1/4th Battalion, Devonshire Regiment in Asiatic theatre of war from 25 May 1915. Crudge died in India, 11 February 1916.
Lance-Corporal Crudge is commemorated on the Kirkee Memorial, India.
