George Dawson was born in Lincoln in 1884, and served with the Divisional Engineers, Royal Naval Division, Royal Marine Light Infantry during the Great War. He died in Egypt on 25 January 1916, and is buried in Alexandria (Chatby) Military and War Memorial Cemetery, Egypt.
