Thomas Turner was born in Matching Green, Essex, and attested for the Essex Regiment at Ongar, Essex. He served with the 2nd Battalion during the Great War on the Western Front from 18 May 1915, and died of wounds on 28 October 1916. He is buried in Grove Town Cemetery, Meaulte, Somme, France.
