Thomas Woodward was born in Whixall, Shropshire, and attested for the King’s Shropshire Light Infantry at Whitchurch. He served with the 7th Battalion during the Great War on the Western Front, and was killed in action on 26 September 1917. He has no known grave, and is commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial, Belgium.
