Arthur Winearls was born in Brisley, Norfolk, and served during the Great War with the 11th (Service) Battalion, Lancashire Fusiliers. He was killed in action on the Western Front, 7 June 1917, and is commemorated on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial, Belgium.
