Para.) surname partially officially corrected; General Service 1962-2007, 2 clasps, South Arabia, Northern Ireland (22981297 Sgt. P. Bland. Para.); Army L.S. & G.C., E.II.R., 2nd issue (22981297 S. Sgt. P. Bland Para.) mounted as originally worn, unofficial retaining rods between clasps, as issued, with related miniature awards, and two Company Prize Medals dated 1961, generally very fine (3) £800-£1,000
Patrick Bland was born in May 1936, and enlisted in the Parachute Regiment in January 1954. He served with 22 Special Air Service Regiment in South Arabia, before returning to the 2nd Battalion, Parachute Regiment. Bland advanced to Corporal in December 1961, to Sergeant in July 1964. He was employed as a Staff Sergeant and Assault Pioneer Instructor, and was part of the 2nd Battalion escort for cased Colours for The Parachute Regiment Presentation of Colours to the First, Second and Third Battalions and the Fourth (Volunteer) Battalion by Her Majesty the Queen at Rushmoor Arena, Aldershot, 15 July 1974.
Bland subsequently joined the Territorial Army Volunteer Reserve, and in later life was employed as a porter at Frimley Park Hospital, Surrey. He was also interned at Winchester Prison.
