Queen’s South Africa 1899-1902, 1 clasp, Defence of Ladysmith (5800 Pte. D. McKenzie, Gordon Highrs:) toned, good very fine £160-£200
Daniel McKenzie was discharged ‘medically unfit’ on 28 November 1900, having suffered an injury to his knee whilst on patrol duty in Ladysmith. He re-enlisted on 30 November 1914, into the 3rd Battalion, Gordon Highlanders but was deemed ‘unable to do any duty owing to old fracture of leg sustained at Ladysmith during S. African War - discharge recommended’, which duly took place on 8 January 1915.
Sold with copied discharge papers and extensive medical and pension correspondence.
