Pair: Drum-Major Thomas Hoare, 18th Royal Irish Regiment

Crimea 1854-56, 1 clasp, Sebastopol (Drum Major Thos. Hoare, 18th Regt.) officially impressed naming; Turkish Crimea 1855, Sardinian issue (Drum Major T. Hoare. 18th R.I. Regt.) depot impressed naming, fitted with replacement ring suspension, contact marks, otherwise nearly very fine (2) £180-£220

Thomas Hoare was born in the Parish of Brompton, Chatham, Kent, and enlisted into the Grenadier Guards at Bow Street Police Court on 18 January 1854, aged 30 years 3 months, a musician by trade. He transferred to the 18th Royal Irish Regiment on 31 October 1854, and served in the Crimea, India, Mauritius and at Home. He was discharged at Secunderabad on 11 November 1863, due to chronic rheumatism caused by military service and was finally discharged at Home on 14 June 1864.
