Joseph Millerchip was the son of Charles Millerchip of Foleshill, Coventry. He served during the Great War with the 9th (Service) Battalion, Royal Warwickshire Regiment in the Gallipoli theatre of war from July 1915. Millerchip was killed in action in Gallipoli, 10 August 1915. On the latter date the Battalion was attacked and forced down the slopes of Aghyl Dere, suffering heavy casualties as a consequence.
