Charles George Weld served during the Great War with the 10th (Service) Battalion, Worcestershire Regiment in the French theatre of war from July 1915. He served with the Battalion as part of the 57th Brigade, 19th (Western Division) on the Somme, and was wounded in action during a series of unsuccessful attacks on an enemy machine gun post at Bazentin-le-Petit, 22 July 1916 (Regimental History refers). Weld advanced to Captain, and subsequently served with the 4th Battalion.
