‘At Heule Wood, on 15th October, 1918, for conspicuous courage and good service under fire. Whilst attacking the enemy in Heule Wood, both Nos. 1 and 2 of his Lewis Gun section, were hit, hostile fire was very heavy, and it looked as if the advance was held up. He took the Lewis gun and rushed forward though heavily fired at, and, getting on to the flank, completely silenced the enemy machine gun, enabling the platoon to advance.’
David Morgan was a native of Rhymney, Wales. He served during the Great War with the 2nd Battalion South Wales Borderers (entitled to Victory Medal).
