Frederick E. Musselbrook served with the Volunteer Company of the King’s Royal Rifle Corps during the Second Boer War. He subsequently served with the 1/6th (City of London) Battalion, London Regiment (Rifles), and was awarded the Territorial Force Efficiency Medal in July 1910. Musselbrook joined the St. John Ambulance Brigade, before serving with the 1/6th (City of London) Battalion on the Western Front.
