Four: Company Sergeant Major C. Parr, 11th (Service) Battalion, Cheshire Regiment, late 8th Hussars, who died of wounds on the Western Front, 4 July 1916

Charles Parr was born in Macclesfield, Cheshire, and served with the 8th Hussars during the Second Boer War. He subsequently transferred to the Cheshire Regiment and served during the Great War in the French theatre of war from September 1915. Having advanced to Company Sergeant Major, Parr died of wounds whilst serving with the 11th (Service) Battalion on the Western Front, 4 July 1916. The Battalion were heavily engaged as part of the 75th Brigade, 25th Division during the first week of operations on the Somme.

Company Sergeant Major Parr is buried in the Warloy-Baillon Communal Cemetery Extension, Somme, France.
