Frederick Victor Partridge was born in October 1896, and joined the Royal Naval Air Service in in August 1915. The following month he transferred to the Royal Flying Corps as Air Mechanic 1 (Wireless Operator). He served with the Royal Flying Corps in the French theatre of war from March 1916, and saw service with 22, 3, 34 and 52 Squadrons, often being on attached with Artillery units. He advanced to Corporal, and after the war served at the D. F. Wireless Section, Air Pilotage School, R.A.F. Andover. Partridge was discharged in 1920, and resided in Willesden Green in later life.
Sold with the following original documentation: portrait photograph of recipient in uniform; paper movement pass, dated 13 June 1917; registered envelope for medals, addressed to recipient at ‘11 Sandringham Road, Willesden Green, NW10’; enclosure for campaign medals; letter of reference for recipient from Officer Commanding, D. F. Wireless Section, Air Pilotage School, R.A.F. Andover, dated 23 January 1920; and typed service record.
