Walter Davison was born in Peterborough on 1 April 1895, and attested for the Royal Field Artillery on 31 August 1914. He served with them during the Great War in the Egyptian theatre of War from 19 July 1915, and was advanced Sergeant. Discharged on 10 June 1919, he enlisted in the Royal Air Force on 27 July 1921, and served with 30 Squadron in Iraq and Kurdistan from 14 October 1922, being promoted Corporal on 1 October 1923. He saw further service during the Second World War, based at R.A.F. Wittering, was promoted Flight Sergeant on 1 May 1941, and was awarded the British Empire Medal in the 1942 New Year’s Honours’ List, being presented with his B.E.M. by H.M. the King at Buckingham Palace. Promoted Warrant Officer on 1 June 1943, he was awarded his Long Service and Good Conduct Medal on 22 November 1946, and was discharged with the rank of Warrant Officer on 3 December 1951. He died on 13 March 1958.
