Turkish Crimea 1855, Sardinian issue (W. Alexander. I Troop. Royal Hrse Arty.) contemporarily engraved naming, with Crimea-style suspension, very fine £60-£80
William Alexander was born in Ipswich, Suffolk, in 1832 and attested for the Royal Artillery at Woolwich on 8 March 1852. He served with the Artillery in the Crimea (entitled to a four clasp Crimea Medal), and subsequently in Bengal from April 1858 to April 1862. He was discharged at Woolwich on 2 May 1862, after 7 years and 56 days’ service.
