Leon Bernard Eyles was the son of Mrs Mary Ann Eyles of Horsham Road, Sussex. He was killed on 1 March 1917, aged 21, and is commemorated on the Vimy Memorial, France.
Charles Eyles, the brother of Leon Bernard Eyles, was born in Catsfield, Sussex, and attested for the Royal Sussex Regiment at Eastbourne. He served with the 7th Battalion during the Great War on the Western Front, and died of wounds on 10 April 1917. He is buried in Duisans British Cemetery, Etrun, France.
