Charles Lashly attested for the Royal Garrison Artillery ,and served with them during the Great War on the Western Front from 8 March 1915. He was commissioned Second Lieutenant in the Royal Garrison Artillery on 11 September 1917, and was promoted Lieutenant on 11 March 1919.
