Arthur George Moat, the son of William and Julia Moat of Sholden, Deal, Kent, attested for the East Kent Regiment, and served with them during the Great War on the Western Front. He was killed in action on 20 May 1916, aged 32, and is buried in Wimereux Communal Cemetery, France.
A. E. Moat, the brother of Arthur George Moat, served with the 31st Heavy Battery, Royal Garrison Artillery during the Great War, and died at home on 9 July 1919, aged 26. He is buried in River (St. Peter) Churchyard.
