Frederick Hosier served with the Royal Sussex Regiment during the Great War in theatre of War 5G (Frontier Regions of India) from 17 August 1915. He later served in the Tank Corps.

Alfred Baker, of Brighton, Sussex, served with the 2nd Battalion, Royal Sussex Regiment during the Great War on the Western Front from 20 September 1914. He was killed in action on 1 January 1915 and is commemorated on Le Touret Memorial, France. Sold with a Royal Life Saving Society Bronze Medallion engraved ‘A Baker/Oct/ 1955’.

Archibald Knight served with the 7th Battalion, Royal Sussex Regiment during the Great War on the Western Front from 4 January 1915, and was killed in action on 6 March 1916. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Loos Memorial, France.

William John Burgess, of Hove, Sussex, served with the 9th Battalion, Royal Sussex Regiment during the Great War on the Western Front and was killed in action on 1 January 1917. The War Diary shows the battalion being bombarded with gas shells on that date. Burgess is buried in the British Cemetery at Mazingarb.

Alfred Gordon Phillips, of Hove, Sussex, served with the 13th Battalion, Royal Sussex Regiment during the Great War on the Western Front and was killed in action on 30 June 1916. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Loos Memorial, France.

Charles Henry Pettit, of Mayfield, Sussex, served with the 13th Battalion, Royal Sussex Regiment during the Great War on the Western Front and was killed in action on 23 September 1916. He is buried in Euston Road Cemetery, Colincamps, France.
