Horace Albert Daniel Palfrey was born in Stoke Newington, London, in 1914 and was commissioned Pilot Officer in the General Duties Branch, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, on 9 July 1943. He was promoted Flying Officer on 9 January 1944 and Squadron Leader on 9 July 1945. Recalled to the active list on 19 February 1946, assuming the rank of Flight Lieutenant, he reverted to the Reserve on 3 January 1952.
The Sarawak Government Staff List of 1962 shows Palfrey employed as a Works Superintendent at the Sibu Station, Public Works Department, Sarawak. The equivalent list in 1966 shows him as Deputy Superintendent, Royal Malaysia Police (Sarawak Component). He died in York in 1978.
