South Africa 1877-79, 1 clasp, 1877-8-9 (814. Pte. M. Rosser. 2-24th Foot.) extremely fine £800-£1,000

Morgan Rosser was living in Salford when he enlisted into the 25th Brigade on 17 April 1876. He was posted to the 24th Foot on 20 June 1876, promoted to Lance-Corporal on 26 May 1877, and to Corporal on 15 August 1877. Serving at the Cape of Good Hope from October 1877, he was promoted to Lance-Sergeant on 14 April 1878, and served in Natal from October/November 1878. Whilst in Natal, he was confined 2nd-7th May 1879, fined £1 and sentenced to 20 lashes. He saw further service in the Transvaal and Natal to December 1879, and afterwards at Gibraltar until June 1880 when he went to India. He returned to England on 28 October 1881, and was transferred to Army Reserve on 7 February 1883.
