Joseph Charles Green was born in Winchester and attested there for the Hampshire Regiment. He served with the 10th Battalion during the Great War in the Gallipoli theatre of War from 5 August 1915, and was killed in action five days later, on 10 August 1915, on which date the Battalion was involved in the defence of Green Hill. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Helles Memorial, Turkey.
