Daniel O’Connell was born in Middleton, Cork, on 8 May 1860 and joined the Royal Navy as Boy 2nd Class on 17 March 1876. He was pensioned ashore on 6 June 1898 and continued to serve as an Able Bodied Pensioner. He joined the Royal Fleet Reserve at Chatham on 2 November 1901 and was discharged dead on 3 February 1906.
