New Zealand 1845-66, reverse dated 1860 to 1865 (3423 Hy. O’Neill, 65th Regt.) edge bruising and contact marks, otherwise nearly very fine £340-£380

Henry O’Neill was born at Seapatrick, near Banbridge, County Down, and attested for the 65th at Banbridge on 8 December 1854, and 20, a bootmaker by trade. He served abroad in the Australian Colonies for 9 years 6 months, and in the East Indies for 4 years 9 month. He served in New Zealand 1860-65, taking part in the Taranaki and Waikato campaigns, and was discharged at his own request, free to pension after 21 years service, on 20 January 1876. Sold with copied discharge papers.
