South Africa 1877-79, 1 clasp, 1877-8-9 (1315. Sergt. E. Richards. 88th Foot.) minor edge bruising, therefore very fine £600-£700

Edward Richards was born in Gosport, Hampshire. He attested for the 20th Foot in November 1855 and served with the Regiment during the Indian Mutiny 1857-59 (entitled to Medal with ‘Lucknow’ clasp). Richards transferred to the 88th Foot in October 1866, and advanced to Sergeant in July 1875. He served as the Regiment’s Drum Major in South Africa 1877-79, and was discharged 6 June 1882 (entitled to L.S. & G.C.).
