Hammer Price:
£1,200

Naval General Service 1793-1840, 1 clasp, Phoebe 28 March 1814 (William Wright.) good very fine £1,200-£1,500

Provenance: Sold by order of the son of the late Australian collector Edward Kennedy, a Gallipoli veteran who died in 1966.

William Wright is not recorded on the published rolls for this clasp. A man of this name, however, was mustered aboard H.M.S. Phoebe but the musters show him as having been discharged to Plymouth hospital on 25 April 1812. Although this medal appears to be ‘as issued’, it should be noted that there are seven men of this name on the rolls for various clasps. Sold with copied muster rolls.
