Glenn G. Boyer was born in Wisconsin on 5 January 1924, and joined the United States Army Air Corps in 1943. He served in the U.S. Air Force for the next twenty years, and was awarded the Commendation Medal ‘For Meritorious Service between 24 July 1964 and 7 March 1965.’ He retired as a Lieutenant-Colonel in 1965, and subsequently became a published author, writing three books and a number of articles about Wyatt Earp and the related figures in the American West. He died in Tuscon, Arizona, on 14 February 2013.
