Pair: Private A. Edwards, Welsh Guards, late Household Battalion, who was killed in action on the Western Front on 17 September 1918

Alfred Edwards was born in Ewhurst, Surrey. He originally attested for the Household Battalion and served during the Great War on the Western Front after the 1 January 1916. He later transferred to the newly formed 1st Battalion Welsh Guards. He was killed in action on 17 September 1918 whilst serving near Moeuvres during the 100 days offensive, and is buried in Moeuvres Communal Cemetery Extension, France.
