Marjorie Elizabeth Clements is shown in the 1911 census as being aged 20, born in Bedford, and employed as a clerk. She is confirmed on the roll of the British Red Cross and Order of St John of Jerusalem as being entitled to the British War Medal only. Her first place of service is given as Copenhagen from 30 October 1916. She served there until July 1917 working with the Danish Red Cross and eventually sending out 10,000 parcels of bread daily to POW camps throughout Germany. The Red Cross Medal was presented by the Danish Red Cross Society and not being a government award was not gazetted. Approximately 596 of these medals were awarded. Sold with further research.
