Jack Mullin attested for the South Lancashire Regiment and was serving as a Sergeant when he was commissioned Second Lieutenant in the Royal Engineers (Movement Control Section) on 19 March 1943. He was promoted Lieutenant on 1 August 1946, and was awarded his Efficiency Medal on 15 June 1948. Advanced Captain on 9 March 1949, he subsequently served in the Korean War, before relinquishing his commission on 16 February 1956.
