Provenance: First W.J.W. Potter Collection, G.V. Doubleday Collection, Glendining Auction, 7-8 June 1972, lot 393; second Glendining Auction, 8-9 April 1981, lot 413 (part); third G.V. Doubleday Collection, Glendining Auction, 7-8 June 1972, lot 592 (part), bt C.J. Martin March 1975; last SCMB November 1980 (E 634).
The Doubleday ticket with the third coin, which alludes to prior ownership by R.C. Lockett, should be correctly assigned to a coin in Doubleday lot 451; both Doubleday 451 and 592 were bought by Brian Warwick and tickets have obviously been mixed between the coins in both lots between 1972 and 1975
