David McEnteggart was born on 15 October 1960, and enlisted at Darlington for the Scots Guards on 18 March 1980. He served in the South Atlantic from 13 May 1982 and took part in the attack and capture of Tumbledown Mountain on 13/14th June 1982, during which he was wounded. The 2nd Scots Guards had eight men killed and 43 men wounded in this action, for which the C/O Lieutenant-Colonel M. Scott was awarded the D.S.O., and two men the M.M.
McEnteggart was transferred to the Regular Reserve on 18 March 1983 with the following testimonial from his commanding officer, Lieutenant-Colonel M. Scott, D.S.O.: ‘Guardsman McEnteggart has served 3 years in the armywhere he has proved to be a considerable asset. He has a tremendous sense of humour and was popular with other soldiers. McEnteggart was a proficient soldier who required little supervision. He accompanied the Battalion to the Falklands where he did well until he was shot during the Battle of Tumbledown Mountain. In spite of his injuries he showed considerable fortitude and was an example to others.’ Sold with copy Certificate of Service.
