Birmingham, Presentation of Colours to the Birmingham Associations, 1798, a copper medal, unsigned [perhaps by J. Westwood Jr], figures presenting a battle flag to a group of officers flanked by ranks of cavalry, rev. a line of men hanging from gibbets with the first one being a representation of Dr Priestley, end of bunepart and the french army around, 33mm, 20.18g/6h (DH 29). Shallow relief, usual light die flaw on obverse, otherwise extremely fine and deeply patinated, very rare (£400-600)

The colours were presented to the Loyal Birmingham Light Horse Volunteers and the Birmingham Loyal Association on Birmingham Heath on 4 June 1798, in the presence of a crowd of over 50,000 (Dykes, BNJ 2001, pp.133-5)
