The Atlantic Fruit Co., founded in 1905 by Joseph di Giorgio, went through a number of configurations and shareholders until it became a limited liability concern in 1923. the compnay was sold to the Banana Company of Jamaica Ltd., a subsidiary of Standard Fruit & Steamship Co., in 1931
