Maharajpoor Star 1843 (Private Mark Miller H.M. 16th Lancer’s) with original brass hook and ring suspension, latter missing top nut, good very fine £460-£500

Mark Miller was born in Meonstoke, Hampshire, and attested for the 59th Foot at Winchester in February 1825. He transferred to the 16th Lancers in December 1828, and served with the Regiment during the assault on Ghuznee 1839 (entitled to medal); at Maharajpoor 1843; and during the Sutlej campaign (entitled to Medal for Aliwal, with ‘Sobraon’ clasp). Miller was discharged, 27 January 1847, after 21 years and 31 days service.
