Robert J. Duncan was born in Bangalore. He served with the 2nd Battalion Dorsetshire Regiment during the Great War (M.I.C. gives BWM as full entitlement), and was attached with the rank of Local Sergeant to the Indian Telegraph Department for service with the Baluchistan Force, North West Frontier, India.
