Four: Private William Yeowart, Kimberley Volunteer Regiment, later South African Medical Corps

S.A.M.C.); Mayor of Kimberley’s Star 1899-1900, reverse hallmark with date letter ‘a’, complete with silver top suspension brooch, dark toned, good very fine (4) £400-£460
William Yeowart was born at Frizington, Cumberland. He served during the Boer War at the Defence of Kimberley with the Kimberley Volunteer Regiment. Afterwards employed as an engine driver with De Beers, he served in the Great War with the 10th Mounted Brigade Field Ambulance in German South West Africa and, after a period serving in the Union, with the South African Field Ambulance in East Africa from July 1918. Sold with some copied Attestation papers which confirm issue of British War and Victory Medals.
