Frederick Alfred Edward Dodd was born in 1915 and attested for the King’s Royal Rifle Corps on 1 May 1933. He served with them during the Second World War in North Africa, and was Mentioned in Despatches (London Gazette 24 June 1943), before transferring to the Royal Military Police, and saw service with them in North-West Europe post D-Day. he continued service with the Royal Military Police following the cessation of hostilities, and saw further service in Malaya during the 1952-56 crisis, during which period he was awarded the British Empire Medal. Discharged on 23 May 1955, after 22 years’ service, he re-enlisted into the Royal Pioneer Corps on 25 My 1956, and served with them for a further 4 years, being finally discharged on 2 June 1960, after 26 years and 124 days’ service, with a final assessment of Military Conduct as ‘Exemplary’.
