A.L.S. by Joseph Plantass at the request of Lord Goderich to William Huskisson, datelined “Whitehall Aug 21 1827.” Details at length the discussions which led to the appointment of Herries as Chancellor of the Exchequer, five sheets, 18.5 x 23.3cm (double); together with two A.L.S. from Plantass to Herries, 29 and 30 August, referring to meetings he has had with Huskisson, each 12 x 18.5cm; and an A.L.S. from George Villiers, later Earl of Clarendon, to Colonel Sir William Herries welcoming his brother’s appointment, two sheets, one with wax seal, 18.2 x 11.5cm [4]. All folded, last torn where opened, otherwise clean and an interesting account of the events (£200-250)
