Henry Gilbert Field was born in Ashford, Kent and residing at Ramsgate he enlisted in Canterbury, Kent. Serving with the 1st Battalion East Kent Regiment, he entered the France / Flanders theatre of war on 7 September 1914. He died of wounds (Home) on 27 November 1914, aged 28 years. He was buried in Cardiff (Cathays) Cemetery.
