Captain P. H. Synge, Railway Transport Establishment, entered the France/Flanders theatre of war on 12 October 1914. He had previously served with the Imperial Yeomanry in the Boer War, gaining a Q.S.A. with clasps for Cape Colony, Cape Colony and Transvaal, and a K.S.A. with two clasps.
