The Fleet was a monthly magazine produced mainly for men of the Royal Navy. In the September 1906 edition it announced that it would in future award a ‘For Merit’ Medal to individuals deserving of recognition for life saving, attempted life saving and for good shooting.
A list of 18 recipients, though sadly not ‘Charles Street’, may be found in ‘The Fleet “For Merit” Medal’, by R. J. Scarlett, L.S.A.R.S. Journal 3, p.23.
