A hardstone cameo brooch, circa 1830s, the late 18th / early19th century black, white and brown layered agate cameo carved to depict the Ancient Greek goddess Hera in profile, her hair tightly coiled and wearing a diadem, in an 1830s yellow gold mount with cannetille border, brooch length 33mm. £600-£800

Hera (Roman Juno) was the Queen of Olympus in Greek mythology. A proud and regal goddess, she was the wife and sister of Zeus and protector of marriage, children and families.
