James I (1406-1437), Groat, First fleur-de-lis issue, Edinburgh, mm. cross pattée, tressure of seven arcs, saltires on bust, i each side of neck and on sceptre handle, rev. three pellets in first and fourth quarters, lis in second, lis and saltire in third, chain inner and outer circles both sides, 2.12g/4h (SCBI 35 –; cf. B 11c, fig. 439c; S 5197). Striking split at 2 o’clock and some verdigris, otherwise fine, very rare (£150-200)
